Technical Writing & Content Development Portfolio with Linked Samples

Marketing

This page features products from my marketing and graphic design work in the form of a marketing insert sample, a blog, custom logo development, and a custom icon library. The presentation of this page is in reverse chronological order, from the latest work to the oldest work. Here are lists of the featured skills and common challenges related to the marketing content I individually and collaboratively developed:

Common challenges

Folder Inserts

Screenshot of transportation and logistics print insert for marketingA current project I am working on is the development of nearly 300 marketing paragraphs for printed folder inserts. For content development, I leverage OpenAI’s GPT-4 to write over paragraphs and storylines for 17 print inserts. So far, the process has achieved a client approval rate on initial drafts of over 90%.

This work highlights content that features two major characteristics of successful marketing and technical writing: highly structured content and the translation of complex concepts and jargon into plain language. The example readers can find here, called Transportation and logistics marketing insert, shows a paragraph structure of valid general claim, challenges to overcome/goals to achieve, and the client pitch/capabilities. The example illustrates how I took industry terms or jargon, such as "asset," "infrastructure," and "optimization," and translated the concepts into plain language.

Blog

Worker at laptop writing on notepadBlog R & D and writing has been a part of my content dev work while at ACS Learning. The latest blog I wrote was Getting Started with Calculating Return on Training Investment (ROTI). In this blog I explain how readers can investigate the return on investment for training, and I present a formula for determining the gains or losses of on-boarding.

Logo Work

ACS learning 30th anniversary logoFor ACS Learning, I have created variations of its standard logo and for its 30th anniversary. The 30th logo went through about 20 iterations. For the company logo, I created horizontal and vertical variations. You can find these variations according to color and orientation in 30 Years Logo DEV Library and ACS Logos DEV Library. I performed all logo work in Adobe Illustrator.

Icons

Sample of various iconsFor each presentation ACS Learning creates for current and potential clients, I create custom icons in its branding guide colors. The process is fairly straightforward: I am given a concept, such as Enterprise Success, and I would search PowerPoint or the internet of icons that conveyed that concept. In turn, I would experiment with the branding colors on the icon. Finally, I would present 3-4 versions of the icon from which ACS could select. You can find the icons I developed in ACS Icon Library.
